Welcome to the Woodland Park Home Owners Association in Shawnee, Kansas. We are a quiet community located just north of Shawnee Mission Parkway, west of Monticello Road and extending back to Silverheel Road. There are two access roads on the east off Monticello Road, 64th Terrace and 64th Street, and one access road from the west off Silverheel Road at 64th Street. Our neighborhood also has quick access to Kansas Highway 7, but a mature tree line around our borders prevents most of the traffic noise from interrupting the daily activities of our community.
Our subdivision was constructed in the early 1990s and was one of the first neighborhoods in this area of western Shawnee. There are 293 homes in the neighborhood association.
Parks & Schools
In addition to having our own private park and playground exclusively for residents and their guests, we are bordered on the north side by the Mill Creek walking and biking trail and are a short distance from many Shawnee public parks. Shawnee Mission Park, the largest park in Johnson County, is about a 10 minute drive from the neighborhood and features an expansive off-leash dog park, lake suitable for boating, multiple shelter areas for picnics and parties, as well as an outdoor theater.
We are located in the DeSoto School District (USD 232), and our younger residents attend either Prairie Ridge Elementary School, Monticello Trails Middle School, or Mill Valley High School. Both the middle school and high school are located on the north east boundary of our neighborhood. The elementary school is a short drive south.
Local Shopping
There are an assortment of both local and national chain restaurants within a radius of the homes. There is also a locally owned grocery store that borders the south side of the neighborhood. In addition to multiple banks, a post office and UPS store, there are also many doctors, dentists, chiropractors and orthodontists nearby. There will be some days you won’t have to go a mile from your house to get everything you’ll need! There are also many churches of various faiths and denominations in very close proximity to our neighborhood.
If you take a short drive east on Shawnee Mission Parkway, just on the other side of Interstate 435, you’ll also find a Wal-Mart and Target for your everyday goods, as well as a Home Depot and Lowe’s for those home improvement projects.
